    Gastronomy in Pelion

    According to the first definition by the famous French gastronome Jean-Adelmo Brigia-Savarin: “Gastronomy is the deep knowledge of everything relating to human consumption.” Share and  enjoy with us the aromas that scavenge from the kitchens of Pelion houses. We invite you to experience, through our organized programs, the original  Pelion cuisine with its  unique and tasty dishes in traditional taverns with homemade recipes..

    The “spetzofai” with green peppers and local Pelion sausage is arguably the most famous among them. Other popular dishes are the traditional Pelion bean soup called “soup” and the boiled goat meat, known as „Gida vrasti“.Most restaurants use local products and goodies straight from Pelion.  Simple raw materials, such as mushrooms, chestnuts, walnuts, apples, ferns, edible greens and herbs are the basis for the unique taste combinations.

    It was fun to cook with the Chef and team and learn the art of the cuisine of Pelion and the use of the aromatic herbs to make the difference in your dishes.

    The atmosphere was very joyful and lively. The cooking class was very well organized.

    We could eat after our own marvelous productions in a flowery garden.

    It is a unique experience you won’t forget.

    Back home, I was able to remake the dishes thanks to the precious recipes we received during the class.

    Tour Plan


    1 Day

    Arrival in Pelion. Transfer from the airport of Thessaloniki or Volos and arrival to Agios Ioannis village. In the afternoon briefing by our escort about the program we will follow and the cognitive field that will occupy us. Dinner and overnight stay in Boutique Kentrikon hotel in Agios Ioannis.

    2 Day

    Boat trip to the beaches of East Pelion/Hiking Damouchari – Tsagarada. After our rich breakfast with local products of Pelion , we will enjoy a full-day escape by boat to the beaches of the East Coast (Agios Ioannis, Damouchari, Fakistra, Mylopotamos, and Lambinou) or alternatively (due to the weather conditions)  transfer to Damouchari, where we will start  a hiking tour  to Tsagarada. Transfer to Agios Ioannis. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in in Boutique Kentrikon hotel in Agios Ioannis.

    3 Day

    Free day in Agios Ioannis. After our rich breakfast with local products of Pelion, we will have the rest of the day free for a swim at the beaches of Agios Ioannis, Plaka and Papa Nero. In the afternoon transfer to Kissos for coffee and exploration of the picturesque village. Dinner and overnight stay in Boutique Kentrikon hotel in Agios Ioannis.


    Daily tour in Milies. After our rich breakfast, transfer to Milies. We will have time to explore the village walking through the stone paths, the square with the old church and the station with the traditional train of Pelion (Moutzouris). Transfer to Portaria. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Portaria.

    5 Day

    Cooking lessons in Agroktima Karaiskos. After our rich breakfast , we transfer to Agroktima Karaiskos where the cooking lessons will take place, lunch, and then free to wander in the village or to nearby Makrinitsa. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Portaria.

    6 Day

    Walking in the Path of the Centaurs. After our rich breakfast , we will make a short walking to the Path of the Centaurs and explore the small stone paths of Portaria. Lunch in traditional tavern in the village. In the afternoon free time for relaxing and wandering around the village. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Portaria.

    7 Day

    Visit the Archaeological Museum of Volos. After our rich breakfast , transfer to the city of Volos, visit the Museum, stroll by the seaside, wander to the market. Lunch in traditional tripouradiko, return to Portaria. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Portaria.

    8 Day

    Departure for the airport. After the rich breakfast, we depart for the airport.
